8 Best Gaming Laptops Under $2500
1. ASUS ROG Strix G15
- Display: 15.6” 1080p
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
- RAM: 32 GB
- Storage: 1TB SSD
ASUS has yet to disappoint us with any laptop models they have released. Since its inception, ASUS has worked hard to build some of the best laptops out there. The ROG Strix G15 falls right into this category.
The Strix G15 comes with a huge 15.6-inch FHD anti-glare 300 Hz display. This alone might make you fall in love with this laptop. We’re talking great visuals along with a reasonable response rate. Now you can finally have that game tournament!
Surprisingly, this laptop comes with a sturdy R9-5900HX Ryzen (AMD) processor. With such a powerful processor, you’ll be able to watch your games come to life as you play them. You will definitely have fun with this baby. However, the processor can’t take all the credit because the Strix G15 also features the RTX 3070 (GeForce NVIDIA) 1660 MHz at 115W (ROG) Boost. This means that you’ll have that rich textured visual quality you’ve been looking for (even if you didn’t know you were looking for). Basically, you’ll have the best visuals you’ve ever experienced.
A whopping 32GB RAM doesn’t need any further commentary and neither does the 1TB of memory. Power and space for days, this is the kind of laptop gamers dream of. That said, this laptop’s touchpad is quite ordinary and a little outdated. However, its response rate is excellent so there really isn’t an issue. far more efficient and smoother. There’s also a backlit keyboard for when you’re up all night working or, ahem, playing your favorite games.
In terms of connectivity and ports, the Strix G15 has a Wi-Fi 6 (fastest possible internet connection) and a HDMI port. So, if you ever want to have a movie night, all you have to do is connect your laptop to a large screen and boom, instant move night.
Coming in at 5 lbs., the ASUS ROG Strix G15 is a bit on the heavy side, so it might not be ideal for folks who are always on the go. Also, the battery life – 5 hours – is disappointing if you consider the fact that most gaming laptops have better battery life. Nevertheless, if this laptop still has a lot going for it, so if you don’t mind these two flaws, you’ll be in for a real treat.
2. Razer Blade 14
- Display: 14” 1440p
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
- RAM: 16 GB
- Storage: 1TB SSD
Razer Blade has produced some of the most wonderful gaming laptops of the gaming era. Their laptops are not only powerful but are reasonably priced. Let’s see what this laptop has to offer.
The Razer Blade has a 14-inch display which might be a bit small for some folks. However, the display is QHD and has a resolution of 2560/1440. With this resolution, you can expect high-end visuals from every angle. The 165 Hz response rate is also excellent – it will provide a nice, smooth picture – so the fact that it’s a 14-inch display might not matter as much as you think it does.
The Razer Blade comes with a Ryzen 5900 HX processor from AMD. It is an excellent gaming processor. With 12 cores, you will have the very best gaming experience. We mean this in the most serious way possible; this processor is literally in a class of its own.
This laptop has been equipped with an RTX 3070 (GeForce NVIDIA) graphics card which means 4K performance and smooth gameplay because the frame rate is just amazing.
With the 16GB RAM, you’ll be able to multitask or play any of your heavy mode games. Like the previous laptop, this one also boasts 1 TB storage capacity, so you will be able to install high storage games or store game data without encountering lag or other issues. Also, unless you’re saving HUGE stuff, this laptop will provide years of storage.
As for typing and backlights and stuff. Yes, there is a powerful RGB backlit keyboard. Also, the keys are perfectly placed so there’s no pain or awkwardness involved when you’re typing.
This wonderful machine weighs in just 3.9 lbs., making it the lightest laptop on this list. In other words, this laptop was meant to be, both, powerful, and portable! Another cool thing which we know you’re going to love (we love it) is the 12-hour battery. We are not even kidding about this. This laptop can run for longer hours if used on optimized settings but even if it’s just 12 hours, that’s awesome. Powerful, portable, and long-lived. The laptop trifecta, if there ever was one.
3. ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15
- Display: 15.6” 1440p
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900HS
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
- RAM: 24 GB
- Storage: 1TB SSD
Yep, we have another fantastic ASUS laptop model, one that is counted among favorites. We were just awed by this laptop’s performance. Here’s why.
This laptop comes with an incredible 15.6-inch screen. It is big enough to be enjoyable but not so big that you’re like, “where am I going to put this thing”? Size is important but so is everything else, and that’s where the 2K QHD stuff comes in. There’s also the 2560 x 1440 resolution and the 165 Hz refresh rate. (Are you beginning to see why this laptop is among our favorites?)
Moving on to the innards, we have a robust AMD 5900 HS processor. AMD processors have long been famous for providing amazing (some say the best) gaming experience. Well, this process has eight cores and a 16 MB cache. That’s certainly amazing. As if that weren’t enough, we also have a RTX 3070 graphics card. All we can say is that we loved the hues and colors; it seemed like the characters were more in a movie (with real people) and less in a game.
The Zephyrus G15 sports a rather unique 24GB RAM. We don’t have words for how incredible this 24 GB RAM is. Basically, it flies. No lag, no hiccups, nothing ridiculous. Also, like the previous laptops, this one also has 1 TB storage, so you have space for days.
There’s a trusty RGB backlit keyboard on this amazing laptop. Its keys are nicely spaced, so you will have a super smooth typing experience. Folks who know how intense gaming can be will appreciate this – there’s nothing like being in front of a screen full of action and hitting the wrong keys!
In terms of portability, the Zephyrus G15 is slightly on the heavy side because it weighs 4.1 pounds. However, this laptop couldn’t be lighter simply because it contains such a high-end processor and robust graphics card, so compromise is certainly called for. That said, we couldn’t compromise with the battery life – it ranges between 3 to 4 hours (based on various test trials) – so we had to say goodbye to this laptop. However, if you don’t mind carrying a charger with you and keeping an eye out for outlets, then have it! Aside from this one (sort of major?) flaw, you can’t really go wrong if you decide to go with the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15.
4. ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15
- Display: 15.6” 1080p
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
- RAM: 32 GB
- Storage: 2TB SSD
This is the third ASUS laptop on our list and maybe you’re wondering, “why not just have a Best ASUS laptops list”? Well, that’s a good idea but the thing is that some of the best laptops in our price range ($2,500) are made by ASUS. It just is what it is.
The Scar 15 comes with a 15.6-inch QHD 165 Hz display. With this display, you will have an awesome gaming experience. Period. Also, the 2560/1440 resolution will leave you speech, maybe even drooling. (Don’t drool on the laptop!)
Like the laptops we’ve reviewed thus far, the Strix Scar is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 5900 HX. It is an 8-core processor that is quite capable of running any modern era without any lag whatsoever. The accompanying graphic, the RTX 3070, is not too shabby. It offers graphics that are to die for. Specifically, it provides a 4K experience, 60 fps and either 1440p or 1080p resolution.
The Strix Scar features 32GB RAM which, for us, is this laptop’s most outstanding feature. You can multitask or even live stream without lag, stuttering and so forth. With this much RAM, your laptop will be future-proof. This means that you won’t have to spend extra bucks on it later. The same goes for the 1TB storage capacity. With it you’ll be able to store movies, games, data, whatever you want, with no problem at all.
One of the things we disliked about this laptop is its 5 lbs. weight. Sadly, this means that we can’t take it everywhere, but it’ll fit nice and snug on our gaming desk. Honestly, though, what do you expect from a powerful laptop? To be light as air? Unfortunately, that is not possible!
That said, one thing that we really didn’t like about this laptop is its 4-hour battery life. We sometimes expect this from gaming laptops so we’re not entirely disappointed, however, we need more battery life! Now, as usual, these flaws might not be too big of an issue for some while for others they will be a deal breaker. Ultimately, it’s your choice, so if you like it, get it! If you don’t, take a look at the laptops we’ve already reviewed or continue down the list.
5. MSI GE76 Raider
- Display: 17.3” 1080p
- CPU: Intel Core i7-11800H
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060
- RAM: 16 GB
- Storage: 512GB SSD
When we’re reviewing gaming laptops, we can never forget MSI. Why? Well, MSI has produced some of the best gaming devices of all time. The GE76 has some of the best features available and certainly lives up to MSI fame.
Right out the gate, the Raider comes with a whopping 17.3 inches screen. Oh yes it does. If you’re not amazed, well…. we don’t know how you couldn’t be amazed; we certainly were. I mean, this thing offers size without compromising on quality. Also, it comes with an incredible resolution of 1920×1080 and a refresh of 144 Hz. In other words, you get an amazing viewing experience with no hiccups.
The Raider’s inside is just about as impressive as the outside. It comes with an Intel core i7-11800H processor. With such a powerful processor, you will have a robust gaming experience, however, there is one drawback. This processor consumes a lot of power, so it may cause the system to heat up way too soon. With that said, let’s talk about the RTX 3060 graphics card and the hard-to-believe visuals that it offers. Also, let’s talk about the fact that it is 6 GB. The colors will amaze you; they are rich and smooth and will make for a great gaming experience.
Moving on to RAM and stuff, we learned that the Raider has 16GB RAM. If you are a gaming fanatic, you already know how important robust RAM is. (If not, you must learn!) We also learned that this laptop has not one but TWO terabytes (TB) of storage space! Imagine how much you can store on this laptop. It’s almost mind-bending to think about this much storage space.
Now, as we noted before, powerful laptops are bound to be on the heavier side of things. Well, that is definitely true of the Raider. It weighs 6 lbs.! Sorry, folks. No running around with this one in your backpack all day!
Last but not least, this laptop has a battery life of 4 hours. You already know that we’re disappointed, so that’s that. Given that this laptop isn’t portable, the low battery life might not be an issue, especially if you keep the laptop on your gaming desk. In any case, don’t judge the MSI GE76 Raider on this alone. If you do, you might miss out on a lot of great features.
6. HP Omen 15z
- Display: 15.6” 1440p
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800H
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
- RAM: 64 GB
- Storage: 2x2TB SSD
HP has always produced top-quality professional laptops. They have even produced some of the best gaming laptops. Let’s have a look at the HP Omen 15 to see if it lives up to HP’s fame.
Not surprisingly, the Omen 15 comes with a 15-inch display. This means you are going to have a huge display for playing games or performing high-end graphic work. Also, the display is QHD and has a refresh rate of 165 Hz and 300 nits of brightness.
This laptop is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 5800H processor which has an 8-core processor with 16 threads and 16-MB cache memory and a 3.20 GHz basic speed. Also, if you ever feel the need to modify it, you can do that as well.
If you are a gamer at heart, the Omen might just be your laptop soulmate. Why? Well, the dedicated 8GB GeForce RTX 3070 video card is contained inside. It offers seamless, high-end gaming visuals. In fact, we think that you will have some of the best gaming experiences of your life. Sounds dramatic but we’re not exaggerating. The visuals are just that good.
The Omen 15z is yet another laptop with up to 64GB of RAM. You already know, so we won’t go there. Instead, we’d like to point out that, it has a whopping 2x2TB of storage space! Imagine the possibilities.
With power comes weight and that’s why the Omen 15z weighs 5.5 lbs. Yet, people don’t really take their gaming laptops with them everywhere, so this shouldn’t be an issue. On another note, the 6-hour battery life on this laptop is slightly better than the three previous laptops we reviewed. It’s still not ideal but we think it’s an improvement. Remember, always keep your charger handy!
7. ASUS TUF Dash F15
- Display: 15.6” 1080p
- CPU: Intel Core i7-11370H
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
- RAM: 40 GB
- Storage: 2TB SSD
The ASUS TUF 3070 comes with a 15.6-inch FHD with a 1080P resolution (16:9 aspect ratio) and an incredible 240 Hz refresh rate. With such a vast range of features, it’s one of the best laptops displays available.
The TUF 3070 also comes with an 11th Gen i7-11370H Intel Core processor, and an RTX 3070 GeForce graphics card. These two hardware features make for a powerful machine that offers mind-blowing visuals. As if this weren’t enough, this laptop also comes with 40 GB RAM that runs at 3200 MHz and 2TB storage. I mean, do we even need to explain how amazing it is to find all these features in one laptop?
As usual, there’s a backlit keyboard, however, the one on the TUF 3070 is of the chiclet variety. This means that the keys are very smooth and well-spaced. They are also lighter.
Finally, let’s talk about weight. The ASUS TUF 3070 weighs 4.4 lbs. Yes, it’s a bit on the heavy side but not enough that it affects portability. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that its battery can last at least 15 hours!! I mean, that much battery life is practically an invitation to take this laptop with you wherever you go. To be honest, this is our favorite thing about this laptop. Sure, it’s a beast but the fact that it has such a long battery life, well, that’s amazing.
8. GIGABYTE AERO 15
- Display: 15.6” 4K
- CPU: Intel Core i7-11800H
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
- RAM: 16 GB
- Storage: 1TB SSD
GIGABYTE AERO 15 is for those of you who are, both, gamers, and workaholics! This laptop can do anything – work, streaming Netflix, running high-intensity games – the list goes on.
The Aero 15 comes with a 15.6-inch screen that features 4K OLED technology. Basically, we’re talking top-notch visual goodness.
With a single-thread Intel Core i7-11800H, this laptop is bound to deliver a high-end experience. I mean, this processor is so robust that it’s difficult to find one like it currently available on any gaming laptop. To complement this robustness, we have the awesome RTX 3070 graphics card which boasts high performance for demanding games.
The Aero 15 also comes with 16GB RAM, so all your work, your streaming, your games – they will all run smoothly. Also, you won’t be pressed for space because this laptop comes with
1TB of storage. Finally, you will be able to store all your games, your files, and your favorite shows, without having to worry about running out of space.
In terms of keyboards, Aero 15 has the flashiest RGB backlit per key. What this means is that you can change the color of your keyboard lights on a whim. (Some may not care about this feature but those with a sense of aesthetic will definitely appreciate it.)
Now, let’s get one thing straight: this thing is HEAVY. How heavy? 8.3 lbs. heavy. This might work for some folks but, for us, it was a dealbreaker. That and the 6-hour battery life. We might have been able to ignore the low battery life if this laptop was a bit lighter, but as it stands, we had to say no. Having said that, you know what comes next: if this laptop piques your interest, then have at it! It’s still a beast of a machine, these two flaws notwithstanding. Question is: will it be your beastly machine companion?
Final Verdict
